The History of Clockworks
Family owned and operated since the early 70’s, Clockworks began when Ed Jones stumbled upon a antique Coca Cola clock in his uncle’s attic. Rather than paying to have the clock repaired, Ed, a “tinkerer” by nature, decided to try and get the clock working on his own. It wasn’t long before he ran into a bit of trouble and ended up in a local clock repair shop. The shop owner agreed to either repair the clock, or more importantly, show Ed how to do it. It was then and there that the foundations for Clockworks were laid.
That Coca Cola clock led to more clocks which led to a room full of clocks and, eventually (with a baby on the way), the opening of a small retail space, The Saturday Clock Shop. Ed’s humble “shade tree” hobby turned into a viable business. Its not uncommon today for the Clockworks team to service clocks that were purchased in the Saturday Clock Shop! In 1981, Ed’s brother and current owner and lead technician, Greg, joined the business and Clockworks was born. In 1983, to better meet the demands of the entire metro area, Clockworks moved from its original location in Stockbridge, Georgia to Norcross on the north side of Atlanta.
